Hi friends! Putting on a show can be a chaotic process. The stage management team helps keep the process running as smoothly as possible. One way they do this is by facilitating communication between production team members. This is done in part by sending out rehearsal reports to keep the team up to date and involved in how the show is progressing as well as including any questions they might have. There are a multiple formats for rehearsal reports. Theaters might provide their preferred choice, or you can use your own.
Here’s an example from when I was assistant stage manager for Argonautika. In this case, a template was provided for me.
If you google rehearsal reports, you can find a million examples from different theaters. You can also find downloadable templates. Find one that works for you, or create your own. While the format may vary, the information is often the same.
Here’s an example that gives general instructions on what to include in the report.
Comparing both examples, you can see that though they are formatted differently, they provide the same information.
Short and sweet today. Nothing complicated about rehearsal reports. Thanks for reading! XOXO!
